GLASS FLAMEWORKING QUALIFICATION CLASS
Wednesday 3:00 – 5:00 pm 2+ hour class
Cost: Public $60 + additional $27 materials purchase in class
Member $45 + additional $27 materials purchase in class
Minimum 1/Maximum: 4 participants
Practicum date: 1 hour to be scheduled on an individual basis with the facilitator.
Open to the public – this class teaches you how to use standard Glass Flameworking Lab equipment safely. It is not an official or professional certification.
This class qualifies you to use the Forge Glass Flameworking Lab area if you are wanting to become a Forge member. Or, the class is great for anyone wanting to learn how to appropriately and safely use flameworking equipment in their own shop.
This is approx. a 2+ hour workshop. You will then come back to complete your practicum (approx 1 hour). You must attend the practicum if your intention is to join the Forge, and must join within 6 weeks of this qualification class to be considered certified to work in the Glass Flameworking Lab.
Practicum is where you will show that you are proficient in using the equipment without supervision.
There are some equipment videos and instructions you need to access and review HERE on our website. It is REQUIRED that you watch these videos before you come in for your qualification class.
There are also some quizzes you will complete after your qualification hands-on portion. Do not do the quizzes before the class.
Please dress appropriately for working with Fire and Glass:
- Closed-toe shoes
- No loose draping clothing, ties, or strings
- Tie back long hair
- Natural fiber clothing (no synthetics) Long Pants, please
- Bring a water bottle for your own use
- be prepared to purchase your materials for class at The Forge
Please arrive a few minutes early.
It is your responsibility to show up on time for your class. You may not be able to participate if you are late.
