Glassblowing for Beginners A2
Friday, June 25, 2:00 – 5:00 pm, 3 hour class.
To participate in this class you must have taken “Beginner A1” previously.
This class will continue your education in this art form, properties of glass, tools and techniques. Turning a hot liquid into a solid physical form is magical. You will learn to master the paperweight. Learn the seductive and ancient art of glass blowing!
Beginning with a short talk on safety and tool identification we will then dive right into the fun stuff. Immediately, students will get a chance to gather glass, learn to manipulate it using basic hand tools, and begin to understand its many properties. Students will learn basic color application and be able to use it in their final pieces.
The goal of every student is to be able to develop basic glass working skills and create a few paperweights each.
Completing this class will fill the prerequisite for upcoming Beginner B classes.
You’ll be guided by professional glass blowers Mark Einert and Robert Kahl. We will do our best to follow all safety guidelines to insure a safe and fun experience for everyone.
