Assemblage is sometimes called 3D collage art. We will explore giving everyday found objects new meaning and new stories to tell. We will also be upcycling and repurposing old items. Assembling used and discarded materials to give items a new purpose and elevating non-art materials into the realm of art and creativity.
Our Open Lab Series are a deep dive into disciplines with professional artists for guidance, skill sharing, constructive critiques all with fellow artists. This Open Lab will be led by Bill Degroot and Liam Ellerby. Participants will learn a varied suite of tools and equipment along with techniques for attaching, cutting, riveting, hinging, disassembling, and diving deep into composition.
Bill Degroot is a well known local assemblage artist with sculptures in many galleries around the country. You can read Bill’s Bio here.
Liam Ellerby is a co-founder of The Curious Forge and specializes in metal and glass upcycling found objects and teaches metal fabrication and welding at The Forge.
