Paint California Landscapes! A Simple Four-Step Approach

Get ready to have some fun! For the beginner or experienced painter.
In this workshop, we will learn four simple steps to the successful painting of a California Landscape over a four-week period. Students will come to a broader understanding of the principles of composition, color, value, and texture. Find some images of something you’d like to render in paint and get ready to have some fun!
You will be free to use whatever opaque medium you’re comfortable with.
Your instructor’s personal guarantee: “You will end the series with a completed painting that you’ll be delightfully surprised you were able to do.”
What to bring:
- Bring whatever opaque medium you want, and whatever brushes go with that medium, bring
2 painting surfaces (canvas, paper, board, - etc)
- Bring several photos of your subject: landscapes and the instructor will help in selecting the one to use. 5 x 7 or larger hard copy photos recommended or an iPad.
- Painting smock or clothing you’re ok getting paint on
Chappy Valente has been an artist/art instructor for forty years. He studied at the International School of Painting, Drawing & Sculpture in Umbria, Italy, as well as the Art Students League of New York. He has recently relocated from N.Carolina to Nevada City.
