“Mingei celebrates a utilitarian, folk-art aesthetic, in harmony with nature, often referred to as wabi-sabi. Three titans of 20th century ceramics, Shoji Hamada, Bernard Leach, and Warren MacKenzie, collaborated to create and spread this philosophy. My collection will show plates, tea bowls, mitzusashi, teapots, and other vessels from these artists and their students in Mashiko, Japan, St. Ives, England, and Minnesota, USA. Most of the pieces are wood fired, a process well known locally. The pieces will not be for sale.”
