Description
Glass Magic: Fusing & Flameworking – Youth Maker XD Camp
This one-of-a-kind camp introduces young artists to two captivating glass art techniques — glass fusing and glass flameworking with a torch — giving campers a rare opportunity to work with real glass-studio tools and bring home stunning, handmade pieces they’ll be proud to display.
What You’ll Make & Learn:
Glass Fusing — Design and assemble your own fused glass project using glass pieces, colors, and decorative elements, then watch it transform in the kiln. Campers will learn the fundamentals of glass cutting, design composition, and kiln firing to create a beautiful suncatcher or night light that glows with color.
Glass Flameworking — Under close instructor supervision, campers will learn to safely use a torch to heat and shape glass into original creations. From hearts and marbles to small sculptures and a glass wand, you’ll be amazed at what you can make when you learn to work with molten glass!
This camp is a rare chance to experience glass arts — the kind of hands-on creative experience that’s hard to find anywhere else. No prior experience needed, just curiosity and a sense of adventure!
Our camps are designed to be both fun and educational, with experienced instructors who are passionate about sharing their skills and knowledge with young people. We take great care to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child can feel valued and supported.

About The Facilitators

Marcy Speck
Marcy Speck is a glass artist and teacher who lives in Nevada City. She’s worked with fused and flameworked glass for the past 15 years. She retired from a career in the software industry a few years ago but has always been intrigued with the color, light and textures of glass art. She enjoys teaching others and seeing what they envision and create.

Linda Lansky
Linda started her love of mosaics in the third grade when the teacher brought in pasta, peas and beans. Since then, she graduated to glass and other materials and joined The Curious Forge to create pieces to use in her mosaics. She fell in love with glass and working with glass in all sorts of ways and she loves to share everything she’s learned on this journey.
Please note: All classes require a minimum number of participants and may be rescheduled if that minimum is not met. If this happens, we’ll let you know in advance and work with you to get you into the next available class.
