Description
Woodshop Qualification class – Tool Safety and Operation
Maximum 3 participants per class.
Disclaimer: This class does not cover woodworking technique, instead it is intended to learn how to use the Woodworking Equipment at The Forge safely and how the woodshop is run. This class is appropriate for someone wanting to qualify to become a Forge member, or for someone wanting to learn how to safely use their own woodworking equipment.
Open to public – this class teaches you how to use standard woodshop equipment safely. It is not an official or professional certification. (Equipment covered: Table saw, miter saw, bandsaw, panel saw, jointer, planer, drill press)
Please plan on spending about 3.5+ hours during the first day of the qualification process. You will then come back (list specific date/time here, *you must attend the practicum if your intention is to join the Forge, must join within 6 weeks of class) and do the practicum part of the qualification. This is where you will show that you are proficient in using the equipment without supervision.
Before arriving to class, please watch the Wood Area Orientation Slideshow on our website here. In addition, please review the machine manuals and videos you must review here on our website. There are also some quizzes you will complete after your qualification hands on portion. Do not do the quizzes before the class.
The Forge has a 7-day advance notification Cancellation/Refund Policy: You can read our cancellation policy here.
