Beginning Garment Construction: Learn to Make Elastic Waist Pants with Pia Andersson
Prerequisite: Basic beginner skills, with knowledge of how to thread your machine and sew reasonably straight.
Register for this day-long 5.5-hour class and get started on your “handmade wardrobe”! In this class, you’ll finish a pair of loose-fitting pants elastic waisted pant. Included in the cost of the class are
elastic waist band, and a pattern that you may take home with you. Bring your own fabric or purchase fabric from The Forge ( approx $15-20).
You’ll learn the basics of reading a sewing pattern, the lay-out to cut, and to sew/put it all together. Participants will go home, feeling and looking great in your new elastic waist pant!
Our sewing studio is equipped with all the basic supplies you will need to complete your project. Additional sewing supplies are available to purchase from the teacher if desired.
What to bring to class:
- Your Fabric, cotton flannel or other soft cotton fabric, not a knit) or purchase fabric from The Curious Forge (approx. $15 – 20)
- For the fabric needed for the pants class: please bring 1,5 yds of 60″ wide fabrics or 2.5 yd of 44″ wide fabrics. If you have questions, please email [email protected]
- Optional: Bring your sewing machine and supplies to class, or use one of the Curious Forge machines in the classroom
- If desired, you may purchase additional sewing supplies from the instructor (scissors, pins etc.) bring extra cash (we also have supplies you can use during class)
- Bring a bag lunch and drink for lunch break (There is no food available near The Curious Forge)

Please note: All classes require a minimum number of participants and may be rescheduled if that minimum is not met. If this happens, we’ll let you know in advance and work with you to get you into the next available class.
Cancellation Policy
Please review our cancellation policy before booking. If you need to cancel your registration, you must notify us at least 7 days before the class start time to receive a refund. Cancellations made within 7 days are non-refundable.
