Immerse yourself in the exciting world of blacksmithing by learning the ins and outs of all of the shop equipment. Gain comprehensive insights into the materials, techniques, and safety protocols essential for working in the shop. Intended for for timers but suitable for all skill levels, this class is sure to teach you something new to make you safer in the blacksmithing shop, regardless of skill level.
This is a two day class, plus 1 hour for practicum on another day by appointment

Class Structure
Prior to Attending:
- Online Learning Materials: Access and review the online learning and training resources provided upon class registration.
Class Day 1 & 2: Interactive Workshop (5+ hours)
- Introduction to Blacksmithing: Explore various blacksmithing equipment, materials, and techniques.
- Hands-On Training: Safely operate our standard blacksmithing equipment, including setup, handling, and troubleshooting.
- Lab Overview: Understand the organization of the blacksmithing shop and learn how to maximize its resources for your creative projects.
- Materials: An additional $10 is added to the class to cover the completion of the leaf key ring capstone project.
Practicum Day: Qualification Assessment (1 hour) To be Scheduled with Facilitator
- For Forge Members: Demonstrate your proficiency and confidence in using the blacksmithing equipment independently.
- Optional for Public Participants: If you’re not planning to use The Forge’s equipment, the practicum is optional.
- Scheduling: The practicum is scheduled individually with the facilitator and must be completed within 6 weeks of the class for qualification.
Please note: All classes require a minimum number of participants and may be rescheduled if that minimum is not met. If this happens, we’ll let you know in advance and work with you to get you into the next available class.
Cancellation Policy
Please review our cancellation policy before booking. If you need to cancel your registration, you must notify us at least 7 days before the class start time to receive a refund. Cancellations made within 7 days are non-refundable.
