Jewelry Studio Qualification Class– Safety & Operation
Price: Public $200 + $25 materials kit
Open to the public. (qualifies for The Curious Forge Jewelry lab certification for members)
In this 3-part qualification class, you will learn all the basics of making jewelry with simple hand tools. You will learn to layout and transfer designs saw, pierce, drill, file, texture, forge, anneal, polish, and rivet. This class serves to qualify someone for using the Jewelry Lab at The Forge.
Day One and Day Two: – With demonstrations and hands-on applications, students will learn the basic safety and operation of stationary power tools and torches in the jewelry lab.
Day Three: (Usually the following Monday) Practicum Approx 1 hour to be scheduled individually with Certifier within a month of the initial class session. Practicum is where you will demonstrate the proper use of the studio and tools in the Jewelry Lab without supervision.
Capstone Project: You will make a simple metal pendant using each of the stationary power tools, and torches, and will learn the use of basic hand tools provided. This capstone jewelry pendant will be made by you with the facilitator’s guidance. The capstone project will help you become familiar with the tools and practice your new skills.
No experience is necessary.
Class 2 minimum/4 maximum participants – (please note: if attendance does not meet minimum, this class will be rescheduled)
