Description
This class will focus on creating a carved sign where the lettering and images are carved in relief. You will learn layout of lettering, dimensional carving, and painting of the carving.
Ramsey will also demonstrate using built-up pieces to create the highly dimensionally carved features that he incorporates in the doors, mantels and architectural elements that he is widely known for.
Tools and materials are provided.

Meet your facilitator: Ramsey has taught numerous wood carving classes through The Mark Adams School of Woodworking, Sierra Nevada College, The Curious Forge, Arts in the Schools programs, and in his studio. You will be impressed by how easy it is for you to create a woodcarving that you will be proud of using the techniques Ramsey has developed over his 55 years as a professional woodcarver. He has trained several apprentices who have become professional woodcarvers, including the Disney carver, Raymond Kinman.

About The Facilitator
Ron Ramsey
Ron Ramsey, a third-generation woodcarver with over 39 years of experience, began his career apprenticing at a woodcarving studio in California before establishing his own in Lake Tahoe. He honed his dynamic high relief style in Europe, completing commissions in Switzerland and Italy, and later returned to the U.S. to continue his woodcarving work. Today, he runs a studio in the Sierra Nevada mountains, where he creates commissioned pieces and teaches woodcarving workshops across the country.
Please note: All classes require a minimum number of participants and may be rescheduled if that minimum is not met. If this happens, we’ll let you know in advance and work with you to get you into the next available class.

Please review our cancellation policy before booking. If you need to cancel your registration, you must notify us at least 7 days before the class start time to receive a refund. Cancellations made within 7 days are non-refundable.
