Class Structure
Prior to Attending:
- Online Learning Materials: Access and review the online learning and training resources provided upon class registration.
Class Day: Interactive Workshop (3+ hours)
- Introduction to Glass Flameworking: Explore various flameworking materials, techniques, and artistic applications.
- Hands-On Training: Safely operate our standard Glass Flameworking Lab equipment, including setup, handling, and troubleshooting.
- Lab Overview: Understand the organization of the Glass Flameworking Lab and learn how to maximize its resources for your creative projects.
- Materials: An additional purchase of $27 is required for the project. Payment can be made using cash or PayPal.
Practicum: Qualification Assessment (≈1 hour)
- For Forge Members: Demonstrate your proficiency and confidence in using the Glass Flameworking equipment independently.
- Optional for Public Participants: If you’re not planning to use The Forge’s equipment, the practicum is optional.
- Scheduling: The practicum is scheduled individually with the facilitator and must be completed within 6 weeks of the class for qualification.
About The Facilitators

Linda Lansky
Linda started her love of mosaics in the third grade when the teacher brought in pasta, peas and beans. Since then, she graduated to glass and other materials and joined The Curious Forge to create pieces to use in her mosaics. She fell in love with glass and working with glass in all sorts of ways and she loves to share everything she’s learned on this journey.

Marcy Speck
Marcy Speck is a glass artist and teacher who lives in Nevada City. She’s worked with fused and flameworked glass for the past 15 years. She retired from a career in the software industry a few years ago but has always been intrigued with the color, light and textures of glass art. She enjoys teaching others and seeing what they envision and create.
Please note: All classes require a minimum number of participants and may be rescheduled if that minimum is not met. If this happens, we’ll let you know in advance and work with you to get you into the next available class.
Cancellation Policy
Please review our cancellation policy before booking. If you need to cancel your registration, you must notify us at least 7 days before the class start time to receive a refund. Cancellations made within 7 days are non-refundable.
