Mud Buddies: Adult and Child Clay Play
Discover the delightful world of clay with our “Mud Buddies” workshop, a special two-session class designed for parents, caregivers, and children to explore the art of ceramics together. Join us and experience the joy of turning a chunk of clay into a beautiful and unique pottery piece.
Session Details:
- Session 1: You and your child will get hands-on with clay, learning the basics of handbuilding techniques. Discover how to roll clay using a slab roller, design, cut, and impress a variety of textures into your creation for that personal touch. The first session ends with your pieces being set to bisque fire, preparing them for glazing.
- Session 2: The real fun begins as you return to your bisque-fired pieces and dive into the world of glazing. Choose from a range of colors and learn techniques to apply glaze, transforming your creations with vibrant finishes that you’ll treasure.
Your ceramic pieces will be glaze fired and ready for pick up within approximate 10 days after your last class.
What You Will Learn:
- Fundamental handbuilding techniques to shape and design clay.
- How to use a slab roller to prepare clay for designing.
- Various texturing techniques to personalize pottery pieces.
- The process of bisque firing and glazing ceramics.
Key Information:
- Age Group: Suitable for ages 8 and up.
- Dates & Times: Wednesdays 9/10 & 9/17, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
- Ticket Price: $120 per pair (one adult and one child).
- Class Size: Minimum of 3 pairs and a maximum of 5 pairs.

Whether you’re looking to ignite a new hobby or simply spend quality time together, this workshop is the perfect blend of education and fun.
Please note: Your ceramic creations will be kiln fired and ready for pick up within 7 to 10 days at The Forge within a few days of camp, or you can opt for the convenience of having these pieces shipped to you for a small shipping and handling fee.
About The Facilitator

Candy Tkachenko
Candy is originally from the San Joaquin Valley and Lake County. She has taught in the public school system for 35 years. Candy has taught basic hand-building techniques to her primary students providing basic exposure to ceramics. Candy is currently retired, enjoys her 3 beautiful grandchildren, and loves spending time doing ceramics and crafts.
Please note: All classes require a minimum number of participants and may be rescheduled if that minimum is not met. If this happens, we’ll let you know in advance and work with you to get you into the next available class.
Cancellation Policy
Please review our cancellation policy before booking. If you need to cancel your registration, you must notify us at least 7 days before the class start time to receive a refund. Cancellations made within 7 days are non-refundable.
