
Introduction To Glassblowing
Saturday November 14 and Sunday November 15, 10am to 1pm each day.
Beginner’s Weekend Class 6 hours of instructions and hands on making. No Experience Necessary. Learn the seductive and ancient art of glass blowing! Turning a hot liquid into a solid physical form is magical. This class will introduce the student to this art form, properties of glass, tools and techniques.
This 2 day (3hr/day) class is designed for beginners who want the exciting hands-on experience of glass making.
Beginning with a short talk on safety and tool identification we will then dive right into the fun stuff. Immediately, students will get a chance to gather glass, learn to manipulate it using basic hand tools, and begin to understand its many properties. Students will learn basic color application and be able to use it in their final pieces.
The goal of every student is to be able to develop basic glass working skills and create a few paperweights each. This weekend class will fill the prerequisite for upcoming Advanced Beginner B classes.
You’ll be guided by professional glass blowers Mark Einert and Robert Kahl. Social distancing and cleanliness is a must. We will do our best to follow all safety guidelines to insure a safe and fun experience for everyone.
Class Limited to 4 students. Preregistration required.
Please wear all-natural fiber clothing, long pants, and closed-toe, closed-heel shoes (also with no synthetic parts) with socks that protect up to the ankle- NO EXCEPTIONS.
